American Celebration of our Independence from The Man (Great Britain)

Happy 4th of July! Why do we say Happy 4th of July? We don't say Happy 25th of December. We don't wish anyone a Happy Fourth Thursday in November or "Happy First of Januaray!". Is it because it's shorter to say 4th of July instead of Independence Day? Have we collectively become that lazy as a nation?
Yeah. I think so. :o)
