The Hover Method
Wednesday, Jul. 17, 2002 - 11:19 AM

The hover method. Why do women feel the need to invoke the hover method? And the simple fact that so many women do this means that the toilet seat is probably the cleanest piece of hardware in the bathroom. You never hear about women avoiding touching other dirty places. You don't see women riding up the escalator with their hand hovering over the handrail. You don't see women in thrift shops with rubber gloves on while browsing. Why is it so important to protect our butts? I don't understand why you can't touch the seat anyway. If it's not wet, then what's the deal? It's not like you walk around rubbing your butt and then eating. Who cares if you have germs on it?

If any of you readers have an answer to this, I'd REALLY like to hear it. Please e-mail me. And, here are the answers I receive (reprinted with permission).
