Cross Country Roadtrip Mayhem 2K4: Grinnell, IA
Monday, Aug. 23, 2004 - 4:09 PM

At my grandparent's home, we had a wonderful second lunch and then asked Grandpa to give a tour of the community to my friends. He's an artist and has done several murals in the underground tunnels that connect the different buildings of their retirement community. Everyone was so tired that we forgot to take pictures. I just now realized that.

We also listened to the most interesting stories of when he was a boy and of him being paid $.50/hr to run the projectors at the movie house and buying his first car for $7 (although it needed a fourth wheel which he would have to spend an additional $.25 on). We also played miniature golf on a mini-golf course he built with another guy in the rec room of the community. Grandpa treated us so well that we ate almost all the leftovers for first dinner so he wouldn't have to later. We met a 100 year old lady that told us about buying purple shoes on the Internet. And, in an incredibly short 8 hours (time on this trip was at warp speed from beginning to end), it was time to leave for Mark's mom's house.

Gram and Gramp.
